Are you a rising 8th grader in Roanoke City Public Schools? Are you ready to make friends, learn new skills, and prepare for your future? Join Community Builders!
Through fun, hands-on experiences, you'll build friendships, explore future opportunities, and prepare for success. The program begins with a one-month summer camp and continues throughout the 2025-2026 school year at each middle school with after-school programming.
Dates: June 16-July 17 (Mondays-Thursdays)
Hours: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Location: James Madison Middle School
(No programming on June 19 and the week of June 30-July 4. The program will be held on June 20 in place of June 19.)Bus routes are available on the Transportation Department webpage.
What’s it all about?
Community Builders will empower you to achieve your dreams through fun, hands-on experiences outside the traditional classroom.
Here’s what you can expect:
- Leadership training and motivational experiences
- College tours
- Job shadowing, tours of area businesses, exploration of your future career
- Speakers and tours with police, fire, military, health care, education, etc.
- Academic support throughout the week
- Continued programming throughout the 2025-2026 school year
