A Valentine's Day Message from Dr. White

Dear Teachers and Staff,

Happy Valentine's Day! While many see today as an opportunity to celebrate love, I also see it as an opportunity to show our appreciation. So, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for you. Your unwavering commitment does not go unnoticed, and I want you to know just how much we value you.

Working in a school system is “heart” work. You keep our students at the center of every conversation, decision, and in everything you do. You know every student by name and by need and go above and beyond to provide students with what they need to succeed.

In Roanoke City Public Schools, we believe in supporting our teachers and staff in every way possible. That’s why we have continued to advocate for competitive pay over the past several years. Many thanks to our School Board, as well, for championing a 14% increase in pay just two years ago. Due to our collective efforts, we are proud to offer one of the most competitive compensation packages in our region. And you deserve it! We see you! We value your work and appreciate all you do!

So, on this Valentine's Day, let's express love and appreciation for our loved ones AND extend that same sentiment to each other. I am proud to work alongside such incredible educators and staff.
