• CTE Advisory & Foundation Boards

Community support is critical to the success of RCPS' Career & Technical Education (CTE) programs. The following groups provide input and support to enhance the programming offered.

We welcome the input of our community, including our business community. Business leaders and organizations who are interested in becoming involved or learning more about partnering with RCPS should contact Director of CTE Kathy Duncan at (540) 853-2903 or kduncan@rcps.info.

    CTE Advisory Council

The CTE Advisory Council is made up of RCPS leaders and staff who work closely with CTE programming; business and higher education leaders; and student and School Board representatives.

    CTE Foundation

The Roanoke CTE Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to supporting Career & Technical Education in Roanoke City Public Schools. Made up of business and industry leaders, the CTE Foundation provides direct support through its annual CTE Extravaganza. 100% of proceeds raised directly support students through scholarships and enhanced programming.

    Superintendent's Business Advisory Council

Superintendent Verletta White created the Superintendent's Business Advisory Council in 2022 to hear directly from local business and industry leaders about the labor market's needs. This additional avenue for feedback and input ensures RCPS continues to prepare students for the workforce of tomorrow. Thanks to the council's feedback, RCPS has brought together leaders from the hospitality and manufacturing industries to discuss their needs and help leaders learn how their companies can become involved with Work-Based Learning programs, such as apprenticeships and internships.
