    Precision Machining I 

    Grade 11 & 12

    The demand for precision machinists is growing along with the resurgence of the U.S. manufacturing industry.  Machinists are highly skilled, creative problem solvers who are task oriented and self-directed individuals.  In the first course, students are aught safety awareness and the foundations of machining, including how to accurately apply measurments, use engineering drawings and sketches, and apply metalworking theory in order to efficiently plan, manage, and perform general machine maintenance and machining jobs.  This class is taught through a partnership with Virginia Western Community College Workforce Development Services. Workplace Readiness and NOCTI are offered as approved Industry Certifications.

Machinists are highly skilled, creative problem solvers who are task oriented and self-directed individuals. In this course, CNC machining operations are emphasized. Students have the opportunity to increase their skills in applying precise measurements, using engineering drawings and sketches, and applying metalworking theory in order to safely and efficiently plan, manage, and perform general machine maintenance and machining jobs. Workplace Readiness and NOCTI are offered as approved Industry Certifications.
