WWMS Teacher of the Year 2024

I am deeply honored to accept the Teacher of the Year award for Woodrow Wilson Middle School. This recognition means so much to me, and I am grateful to be part of such an inspiring community of educators.

Over the past 15 years teaching math at Woodrow Wilson, I’ve been fortunate to serve as the 6th-grade team leader for a decade. Collaborating with my colleagues has been immensely rewarding, but the best part of my job remains the lifelong relationships I build with my scholars. Seeing them grow and succeed is truly the highlight of my career.

In addition to my teaching responsibilities, I loved being an assistant coach for volleyball and softball for 13 years. Coaching allowed me to connect with students in a different way, helping them develop teamwork and resilience both on the court and in life.

Outside of school, I enjoy working out, traveling, and spending time with my family, friends, and my dog, Maycie. These moments of joy and relaxation help keep me energized and motivated.

I’m also excited to share that I am finishing up my master’s degree in Educational Leadership at JMU this year, with the goal of becoming a school administrator. I look forward to continuing to support our students and staff in new ways.

Thank you again for this incredible honor. I am excited to continue making a positive impact at Woodrow Wilson Middle School!
