District Spelling Bee

Roxanne Culley of Woodrow Wilson holding her trophy with Principal Henderson.There were some tough words right out of the gate!  Students from all five middle schools competed at the District Spelling Bee.  It took place at Lucy Addison Middle School. 

Roxanne Culley won in the 5th round with the word "barbarous."  The 8th grader will now compete in the Region Spelling Bee next month.  This is the second consecutive year a Woodrow student has won the District Spelling Bee.

Brent Watts of WDBJ-TV was this year's pronouncer.  Here is a list of the other competitors:
