Two Grandin Court students holding the trophy they won at the Catapult ChallengeThe love of Science was on display at the 3rd annual Catapult Challenge.  Third graders from each elementary school participate in the challenge.

Students first compete against their classmates at their school.  The winners then gathered at the Virginia Museum of Transportation to face each other.  The students had to build a catapult out of popsicle sticks.  Third graders are chosen because they are learning about simple machines this year.

They competed in several challenges that tested distance, accuracy, and power.  The teams from Grandin Court Elementary, Roanoke Academy (RAMS), Crystal Spring Elementary, and Wasena Elementary each won the top prizes.  Shout out to the team from RAMS for winning two trophies.  Congratulations to all the participants.
