Baccalaureate 2018

Three Patrick Henry seniors dressed in their purple caps and gowns during BaccalaureateCelebrating the Class of 2018 is underway.  It began with Baccalaureate Cermonies at Patrick Henry and William Fleming High Schools.  They featured the presentation of special awards, scholarships, and words of wisdom from guest speakers. 

Patrick Henry's featured speaker was Roanoke Vice-Mayor Anita Price.  William Fleming's was Taisha Steele, the director of school counseling, and a graduate of Fleming. 

During Baccalaureate, Beatrice Schleupner of Patrick Henry received the Alumni Endowed Undergraduate Scholarship from Duke University.  It is estimated worth is $270,000.  Tiana Horace of William Fleming High School received several scholarships, including one for $3,000.  She will also attend Duke University next year.

During each ceremony, James Cabiness of Virginia Western Community College (VWCC) acknowledged the 117 seniors who plan to attend VWCC as part of the Community College Access Program (CCAP).
