School Bus Routes

Bus routes for the 2026-2027 are now available! Please see below. Routes were last updated on Sunday, August 9 with minor adjustments. Families of students who receive door-to-door pickup receive direct communication about routes. 

Finding Your Bus Stop

To find your bus stop, click the button below for your student’s school to dowload the route sheet. Then look through the addresses to find the one closest to your home. That’s your bus stop. Families may also use the Zum app to view a student's assigned route. 

Please note that you may have to walk to your stop in accordance with family responsibility zones. Special education and pre-K routes are communicated directly with families.

Some specialty programs use alternative service routes with centralized hub bus stops in your neighborhood, for greater transportation efficiency. Hub stops do not require your student to travel more than one mile to reach the stop, which is in accordance with the Code of Virginia and the RCPS Parent Handbook. Programs using alternative service routes for the 2026–2027 school year are: Forest Park Academy, Noel C. Taylor Learning Academy, and students in the PLATO program who attend Highland Park Elementary School. Please use the same directions above to find your student’s hub stop.

Times listed on bus routes are estimated pick-up times in the morning. Afternoon bus routes are not posted, because of factors such as traffic, students who are delayed getting from class to the bus, and other things that can cause bus stop arrival times to vary from day to day.

Buses typically leave the school within ten minutes of dismissal. Afternoon bus routes vary; some routes return students in the same order as they were picked up, and others run in reverse order. We encourage you to be at the bus stop based on your student’s estimated departure time.

Procedure for Students in Preschool, Kindergarten, or Who Use Special Transportation 

Students in preschool, kindergarten, and/or with disabilities who use special transportation must have an authorized individual meet them at the bus stop each afternoon. This can be a:

• parent/guardian
• an adult who is listed on the student's emergency card
• an individual who is at least 14 years of age

The individual must be at the bus stop visible to the bus driver in order for the student to exit the bus. The student's parent/guardian must provide written permission, approved by school administrators, for any individuals who are not listed on the emergency card, or for any minor (age 14 to 17) sibling to meet the bus. If an authorized individual is not present, the bus will continue with its route and return the student to their school. Parents/guardians of students with disabilities who use special transportation must provide written permission for the student to be dropped off without supervision. 

Please keep in mind that situations where students are not met by a parent or guardian when it is required cause delays to the rest of the route. Therefore, if preschool or kindergarten students are returned more than three times in a quarter, they will lose their afternoon bus riding privileges for the remaining nine weeks.

4-year-old pre-K students are assigned to bus stops and ride regular school buses with elementary school students. Bus drivers will seat pre-K students as close to the front of the bus as possible, along with kindergarten students.
