Adopt-a-Classroom Program

This program requires teachers to register at the Adopt-a-Classroom website. Classrooms can be adopted by an individual, small business, corporation or a foundation. Once adopted, teachers receive a $500.00 credit to purchase items to enrich and extend learning opportunities for their students. The credit can go toward the purchase of classroom technology, books or other materials. Teachers assist in soliciting their own sponsors within their communities by downloading and distributing program flyers or through personalized email from the Adopt-a-Classroom program website. DonorsChoose.org is a program that matches donors with classroom needs. The program requires teachers to register at the DonorsChoose.org website. Teachers post their classroom needs to the website and donors across the United States can select or adopt one or more projects for funding. In return for funding a project teachers must submit photos of the project in use and thank-you notes from their students. These are then sent to the project's donors. EcoPhones Fund-Raising Program

The EcoPhones Fund-Raising Program assists schools in raising funds from recycling cell phones. EcoPhones will pay organizations up to $100.00 for each used digital cell phone they turn in to recycle. No buying or selling is involved. A free marketing kit is provided by EcoPhones to lauch school community cell phone recycling programs. After schools have collected a box of cell phones EcoPhones will pick them up at no cost and a check will arrive within 60-days after pickup. Educational Resources Micro-Grants

The Educational Resources Micro-Grants program provides funding to schools for the use of technology to advance student learning. Micro-Grants will be awarded to schools that are focused on using technology to enhance classroom learning and improve student achievement through the use of technology. To be considered for a Micro-Grant, requests must be made online. Grant applications require a 250-word essay, detailing why and how you plan to implement the technology in the classroom. This grant opportunity may change as frequently as every month, so interested individual should check this site frequently. One entry per school building is allowed for each Micro-Grant. Ezra Jack Keats Mini-grant Program

The Ezra Jack Keats Foundation offers mini-grants of $500 to Public Schools and Public Libraries for programs that encourage literacy and creativity in children. Programs relating to the work of Ezra Jack Keats (writer and illustrator) are welcome but not required. Scholastic Reading Club Program

Staples Recycle for Education Program

Started in July 2003, Staples established the Recycle for Education program to encourage ink cartridge recycling. This is a nationwide program. Staples, Inc. will donate $1 to public schools for every eligible ink cartridge they receive. They will provide prepaid postage for shipping the cartridges and an account number to schools in order to monitor the status of reimbursement checks and collection counts. This is open to parents and teachers. They can log onto their website to register their school. Teachers Helping Teachers Award Program

The Literacy Empowerment Foundation (LEF) would like to acknowledge the many early elementary educators who help other educators. Examples of good deeds include starting a web site that shows different and exciting ways of teaching specific subjects, presenting at conferences, mentoring new teachers, or volunteering with extracurricular activities. Individuals may nominate an educator for an award. Every week, a new award winner will be chosen. LEF will send each winner $100 worth of books for their school, along with a certificate that acknowledges their achievement.
