Course: Summer Book Club - Permission to Feel
Unlocking the Power of Emotions to Help Our Kids, Ourselves, and Our Society Thrive
Description: Enjoy summer reading and time with colleagues! We will read the book Permission to Feel: Unlocking the power of emotions to help our kids, ourselves, and our society thrive by Marc Brackett, PhD, Director of the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence and Professor of the Yale Child Study Center. Meetings will include a short opening practice followed by review and reflection on the week’s chapters and discussion questions.

Description: These 30-minute online sessions are for all RCPS staff who would like to learn more about self-care and build resilience. You will learn practical self-care skills that can support you in remaining centered, steady, and self-compassionate while at work. Three sessions are offered in the series; each with a different theme and opportunity to practice a variety of self-care skills.

Course: Cultivating Awareness and Resilience in Education CARE for Teachers
Description: CARE is designed to support stress reduction and promote well-being by increasing awareness, presence, compassion, reflection, and inspiration. CARE is SEL for adults. These inner resources help us flourish in our personal and professional lives, so that we can support ourselves, our colleagues, and our students socially, emotionally, and academically.
We learn evidence-based, practical skills in a supportive, caring community of teacher colleagues.
Key topics include caring for ourselves, social emotional competencies (SEL), mindful awareness, mindful listening series, the importance of emotions, emotions and the brain, navigating our emotional landscape, awareness of triggers and scripts, understanding our anger, cultivating self-compassion and compassion.
