Culinary arts student cutting a cucumberFebruary is Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month.  CTE has come a long-way.  It is not the shop class of yesteryear.  Today, Roanoke Technical Education Center (ROTEC) is preparing students for jobs in the 21st Century and post secondary education. 

Here are some facts to consider:

5,300 Roanoke City middle and high school students currently take Career and Technical Education Classes. 

ROTEC awarded a record 1,878 Industry Certifications in 2015-2016.  These are evaluations that ensures students meet minimum competency standards.

ROTEC's graduation rate has gone from 92 to 98%, one of the highest in the state for Career and Technical Education.

ROTEC offers 11 career paths including Culinary Arts, Engineering, Automotive, Cosmetology, Building Trades, Coding, and so much more!
