Our annual Summer Reading Program runs annually every summer for six weeks. It is generously sponsored by Cox.
Every student who completes the Summer Reading Program and submits a reading log will receive a free book and a gift card! Students will also be entered into a drawing to win special prizes!
How to Participate
The RCPS Summer Reading is open to all students in grades pre-K through 12, including students new to RCPS!
To complete the program, students must read — or be read to — for at least 600 minutes and submit their completed reading log by the end of summer break.. All reading logs must be signed by a parent/guardian. All pages of the reading log that you've filled out must be submitted. Your name and your school name must be included on your reading log.
You may download the reading log above, or ask your school for a copy. Once you've completed the reading log, submit it to your school or email it to info@rcps.info. Please make sure to include your name and school. Schools should send completed reading logs to the Communications & Marketing Department.
Why Should I Read?
Studies show students become better, stronger readers if they continue to read during the summer. It is fun and they are more likely to become lifelong readers.
But that's not all!
Every student who completes the Summer Reading Program and submits a completed reading log will receive a free book and gift card! Students will also be entered into a drawing to win special prizes.
Reading just 20 minutes a day will help you reach your goal!
