Summer Programs
RCPS offers a variety of summer programs for students across all grade levels.
RCPS also partners with local nonprofits and city departments to offer low-cost and free programming opportunities. Our Roanoke Summer Connect directory provides a list of these resources below.

- RCPS Program
The STAR Program (Students Thriving and Rising) is a four-week summer learning opportunity for rising 3rd through 8th grade students on an invitation-only basis.
- RCPS Program
Credit recovery and summer enrichment opportunities are available for high school students.
- RCPS Program
Community Builders is a summer and afterschool program for rising 8th graders, which provides fun, hands-on experiences outside the traditional classroom. The program helps students prepare for life in high school and beyond through college tours, career exploration, job shadowing, academic support, and much more.

Students who read 600 minutes over six weeks and submit a reading log receive free prizes! The Summer Reading Program is open to students in all grades.

RCPS offers athletics and fine arts programs for middle school students through the Staying Safe by Staying Connected Program.

RCPS offers a summer stock fine arts program for middle school students through RCPS' Staying Safe by Staying Connected Program. This summer's musical is SpongeBob the Musical JYiuth Editition.

Roanoke City School District offers athletics and fine arts programs for middle school students through RCPS' Staying Safe by Staying Connected Program. New this year, a one-week band camp for middle school students is available.

RCPS partners with Virginia Western Community College to offer free week-long career exploration camps to rising 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students. Students may participate in one camp. Visit the Virginia Western Community College website to register.

- RCPS Program
Dream It, Build It (rising 8th and 9th grade students) and Dream, It, Build It, Work It (students ages 18-24 with disabilities and IEPs and/or 504 plans) provide hands-on learning experiences for students through practical projects, workplace skill development, and exposure to manufacturing environments in the manufacturing industry.

What We Offer: Partial day camps for a variety of ages (elementary-high) on a variety of art-related topics. In addition, guided tours and other events for the public are available during the museum's open hours.
Cost: $200 for members and $250 for nonmembers (for camps). Most events/tours that take place during open hours are free.
