EVENT: Patrick Henry Governor’s School Student Heads to International Science Fair

DETAILS: Patrick Henry High School/ Governor’s School student Rachel Strauss will be competing in the International Science and Engineering Fair in Los Angeles. Strauss will be presenting a display on how corrosive environmental items such as salt affect the strength of concrete. Strauss is an 11th grader who has been working with college and high school faculty on her science research for three years.
EVENT: Lincoln Terrace Elementary Students Learn Lesson about Charitable Giving through Rescue Mission Fundraiser

DETAILS: Lincoln Terrace Elementary students have raised more than two hundred dollars for the Rescue Mission through a bake sale and collecting donations. The students have been selling the baked goods during their lunch period this week.
EVENT: Highland Park Hosts Fashion Show Fundraiser

DETAILS: Highland Park Elementary PTA will host a fashion show and sale to raise money for educational programs at the school. The student and faculty fashion show will kick off on Friday and the spring clothing sale will take place on Saturday.

EVENT: Addison Hosts 2nd Annual Motorcycle Ride and Family Carnival

DETAILS: Addison is hosting its 2nd annual motorcycle ride and family carnival on Saturday April 2. There will be a moon bounce, slide, obstacle run, arts and crafts, face painting and much more. There will also be food, music, vendors, a fire truck and the mobile unit from the police department. The Addison step team will be performing along with other musical guests! Motorcycle ride registration begins at 8 a.m.

EVENT: Patrick Henry High School to Perform a Musical Favorite-“Grease”

DETAILS: Patrick Henry theatre students will perform the energetic and heart- warming musical “Grease”. The musical is set in 1959 and follows ten working-class teenagers as they navigate the complexities of love, cars, and drive-ins. Set to an unforgettable soundtrack including songs such as You’re the One that I Want and Greased Lightning-join the Patrick Henry cast as they journey from high school students to young adults in one historic school year!

EVENT: Roanoke City Preschool Program Hosts Fun Skating Informational Event for Families in the Roanoke Valley

DETAILS: The community is invited to attend a free informational event for the Roanoke City Preschool Programs which is a joint program between RCPS and TAP Head Start. The event is open to parents who have preschool students and those who do not. Last year more than 600 people came out to the event to learn more about educational programs available to preschool children.
