EVENT: City Council Recognizes Preston Park Elementary During for Academic Achievements

DETAILS: City Council Members will recognize Preston Park Elementary tonight for winning the Competence to Excellence Award granted by the Virginia Department of Education and Governor. Preston Park received the award for making Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) two consecutive years and for exceeding state academic guidelines.

 

EVENT: Hairspray Musical Features Talent from Across the Roanoke Valley

DATE/TIME: March 18-19, 25-26, 2011; 7:30 p.m.

DETAILS: The Colonel’s Theatre Company will be bringing in talent from William Fleming, Patrick Henry, James Madison Middle, and Roanoke Catholic to perform in the musical Hairspray. The musical performance will feature both students and faculty from all over the Roanoke Valley. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for students and can be purchased on show nights at the Dickinson Auditorium Box Office (opening at 6:30); through Fleming’s Main Office (Larry Van Deventer, 853.6241) or Roanoke Catholic’s Main Office (Reed McGinn, 982.3532).
