Subject: 09/17/2009 Information Regarding H1N1 to be Sent to Parents
Date to send: 9/30/2010 at 6:00 AM

The following automated telephone message has been sent to parents this afternoon regarding H1N1:

Since April, the H1N1 virus has been confirmed throughout Virginia. We have been made aware of a number of students that are experiencing flu-like symptoms. Flu-like symptoms may include fever over 100 degrees Fahrenheit or 37.8 degrees Celsius, feverishness, cough, sore throat, muscle pain, fatigue and sometimes vomiting or diarrhea. If you suspect your child is getting the flu, it is recommended by the local health department and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that you:
• Stay home from work and school and avoid contact with others so that the virus does not spread.
• Contact your doctor’s office by phone before arriving there in person.
• Encourage your child to use good cough and hand hygiene etiquette.

As always, we will keep you informed as more information becomes available. A letter will be sent home with your child this week regarding current H1N1 recommendations.
