EVENT: New Culinary Arts Space for RCPS Students Unveiled
SCHOOL: ROTEC
DATE/TIME: September 14, 5:30 p.m.
DETAILS: A tour of the culinary arts facility will take place at 5:30 p.m. before the regular school board meeting. Students are proud of the new state of the art facility featuring four large cooking areas that can accommodate 4-5 students each. The cooking areas are equipped with a stove, oven, refrigerator and fryer. The classroom area is roomy and holds up to thirty students and is equipped with a Smart Board, laptop and cable TV with access to the Food Network.
Currently the Culinary Arts space is serving over 125 students from Patrick Henry, William Fleming, Noel C Taylor and Forest Park Academy. The program offers 3 years of Culinary Arts classes to students as well as the opportunity to earn Dual enrollment credit through Virginia Western Community College. Some of the courses include Hospitality, Vegetable Cookery and Baking and Pastry. Student can also earn an Industry Certification.
The program has always been very popular but it is now exploding due to the excitement of the new facility.
