Important Information for the 2009-2010 School Year

 

School Hours

School Hours for the 2009-2010 school year will be 8:45 AM until 3:30 PM.  School buses will be arriving/unloading at Madison beginning at 8:25 AM and loading/departing Madison at 3:30 PM.  Homeroom/Breakfast will commence at 8:25 AM.

***Special Notice to Car Riders & Walkers***

Car riders & walkers SHOULD NOT ARRIVE BEFORE 8:15 AM!!!

Due to liability regulations, no student shall enter the building prior to 8:15 AM regardless of transportation availiblity or weather conditions .  Parents, please do not bring your child to school before 8:15 AM for they will not be allowed inside the building, nor will supervision be provided.  At 8:15 AM all car riders/walkers shall report directly to the cafeteria and remain there until 8:25 AM, at which time they shall be dismissed to go homeroom.

School Policies

Use of School Telephones

Students will be allowed to use the school phones to call home only if they are ill and being sent home for the day.  Students may not use the school phones to call home for missing assignments, projects, gym clothes, instruments, lunches and/or lunch money. 

Cell Phones & Electronic Devices

Student are allowed to carry cell phones on their person, however they should remain out of sight and turned off.  Any phone that is seen, heard or being used  even when communicating with parents  will be confiscated by school administration until it is picked up by a parent.  Students will not be allowed to call home to inform parents of a violation of this policy.

Parents, if you need to contact your child for any reason, please call 853-2351 and your child will be contacted.

Electronic devices such as Mp3 players, CD players, and/or hand held video games are not to be used on school property.  If any such device is seen or is being used they will be confiscated by school administration until picked up by a parent.  Students will not be allowed to call home to inform parents of a violation of this policy. 

 

Immunizations & Medications

Any 6th grade student or student transferring to Roanoke City Public shall be required to have the following immunizations prior to the start of school on September 2009.

If these immunizations have not been completed and a proof of immunization form provided from your child's physician, your child will not be admitted to class until immunization has occured.  These immunizations have been mandated by the Commonwealth of Virginia.  Any child coming to school without these shots will be sent home.

Any student taking prescription medications shall be required to register with the school nurse for disbursement.  Prescription medications must be a new "full" bottle, in the original container from the Pharmacy bearing the prescription label.  Any medications sent in non-pharmacy containers shall be returned to the child's parent/guardian and will not be disbursed.  Students are not allowed at any time to carry on their person:
