Step-by-step at Garden City Elementary

Group picture of Roanoke Ballet dancers with several Garden City studentsThere were plenty of smiles and shocked faces as ballet dancers pranced around the stage at Garden City Elementary.  Ballet dancers from Roanoke Ballet laced up their slippers for a special performance for students in pre-K thru 2nd grade.  The students are learning about the Nutcracker in music class.  Roanoke Ballet's visit was a way to bring the story to life on the stage. 

The dancers demonstrated some of their most difficult moves.  A few students were invited on stage to learn the basics of ballet.  The performers also took questions from the audience.  Several asked what does it take to be a ballet dancer?  They replied "plenty of practice."
