Group shot of Mr. Stanley and several members of the William Fleming High School Wind Ensemble. The concert to honor Vietnam Veterans had plenty of patriotism, salutes, and music from the oldies.  Several hundred people attended the free concert at the Salem Civic Center.

The 90 minute concert featured high school bands from Roanoke City, Roanoke County, and Salem.  It included musicians from Patrick Henry and William Fleming High Schools.

For the finale, David Stewart Wiley of the Roanoke Symphony conducted a combined band from each high school.

This commemorative event was hosted by the Roanoke Valley Vietnam War 50th Anniversary Committee.

Thank you to Fine Arts Coordinator Cari Gates, Mr. Schmitt of Patrick Henry High School, Mr. Stanley of William Fleming High School, and David Stewart Wiley of the Roanoke Symphony.
