Back-to-School Immunizations

Vital Health Information GraphicBefore the first day of school (August 22), please make sure your child's immunization records are up-to-date. 

Virginia law requires that all students entering sixth grade have a tetanus, diptheria, pertussis (Tdap) booster immunization prior to entering the sixth grade. 

The Roanoke City Health Department will offer free immunizations in July and August.  The Health Department is located at 1502 Williamson Road.  You can also call (540) 283-5050. 

Here are the Immunization Clinics for Roanoke City:

July 24 & 31-  8 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. & 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. by appointment

August 7, 14, 21-  8 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. & 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. by appointment

August 3, 10, 17- 8 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. & 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., walk-in

August 4, 11, 18-  8 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. & 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., walk-in

PLEASE NOTE:  All children must be accompanied by an adult and have an up-to-date vaccination record with them.  Please bring any insurance cards for your child(ren).

The Health Department will also provide free immunizations to Roanoke City students at the Back-to-School Extravaganza Saturday, August 19 at William Fleming High School.  The event will run from 9 a.m. to noon.
